Change Your Brain and Change Your Life!

Create an Attitude of Gratitude

Do you often find yourself complaining to yourself? Do you feel as if you’re stuck in a rut? Do you obsessively “doom scroll” on Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok, all of which make you focus on what’s wrong with the world, instead of what’s right?

You’re not alone! When my stepson, Jon, worked at the highest levels of YouTube, he said, “Everyone at Google is really nice, but the algorithm is pure evil. It creates outrage to keep people angry and engaged with clickbait. It’s intentionally addictive.”

So what can you do?

Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Past Life Regression, and Neuroscience can free you!

How?

By giving you tools to change your brain chemistry. When you’re stressed, your brain floods with cortisol, that “fight or flight” hormone. It’s like your internal alarm system is constantly blaring.

But what happens when you take a moment to flip your brain from “poopy brain to puppy brain,” that is, take a moment to stop? You learn to switch gears, and appreciate something – the warm sun on your skin, a niece’s silly text, the fact that you have a cozy bed to sleep in.

Suddenly, your alarm quiets down. Your brain shifts gears, releasing feel-good chemicals like dopamine and serotonin. It’s a natural mood booster, without the jitters!

Neuroscientists like Stanford’s Robert Sapolsky and USC’s Antonio Damasio prove that an act of gratitude changes the physical structure of your brain. They’ve documented increased activity in areas associated with reward and morality when people practice thankfulness. It changes the brain, because it builds new, positive pathways!

Now, you might be thinking, “Okay, gratitude is nice, but how does it really help with, you know, ‘life?” The answer is “yes!”

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can retrain your thought patterns.

You learn how to focus on what’s good in your life, on the positives!

By actively seeking out things for which you can be grateful, you’re essentially practicing CBT on yourself, gently nudging your brain away from negative loops and towards a more optimistic outlook.

Hypnotherapy can reinforce CBT by dropping you into a relaxed, focused state where you’re more open to suggestion. In my sessions, I gently encourage you to acknowledge and savor all the good things in your life. That supercharges your gratitude practice and makes those positive feelings stick even deeper.

Past Life Regression Therapy, which I’ve been doing since 2004, when I trained with Brian Weiss, MD, and briefly with Raymond Moody, MD, can foster a profound appreciation for your current existence. When you see the reason that you chose to be born into a family of lunatics who hated you, it is because in a past life, when you were a Powerful Samurai who went berserk, you slaughtered an entire village. And you experience the shame, and realize those murdered people are your family now. It makes it easy to accept and forgive. (That’s from one of my clients!)

So, how do you tap into this power? It’s surprisingly simple.

  1. Start a gratitude journal: Jot down 3-5 things you’re thankful for each day. No matter how small!
  2. Express it: Tell people how much you appreciate them. A simple “thank you” can go a long way.
  3. Mindful moments: Take a few seconds throughout your day to just be aware of something good.

Awareness Therapy can help you to acknowledge it. Feel it.

You can learn how to practice it even when it’s tough: This is the hardest, but often the most rewarding. Even in difficult times, there’s usually something to be grateful for – the strength you possess, the support you have, the lessons learned.

Embracing gratitude isn’t about ignoring problems; it’s about choosing where to focus your energy. It’s about recognizing that, despite challenges, there’s an abundance of good in your life. And when you start to see that abundance, your perspective shifts, your brain rewires, and your mental and physical well-being begin to flourish.

So, what are you waiting for? Start feeling grateful today, and watch your world transform!
