Open to the Powers and Creativity of Your Shadow Side
Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Past Life Regression can unlock the power of your subconscious mind and give you access to the hidden parts of you that keep you a prisoner of your past.
In the ‘90s, I was lucky enough to study with two renowned Jungian psychiatrists at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute. Six years of studying “Shadow Side” work gives me the tools to help my clients heal from all kinds of addictions and trauma.
Let me take you on a deep dive into how blending Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Past Life Regression can help you discover and embrace your shadow side and free you from guilt and shame.
First up is the grandfather of “shadow side” work, Carl Jung. He introduced the concept of the subconscious mind and the shadow within in the early 1900s. According to Jung, our shadow is the unconscious part of all of us that harbors traits and desires that we might not acknowledge or even know about. It is the hidden, shame-filled part of your personality. However, by embracing it, understanding it, and having compassion for it, you can unleash your passion and live a more balanced, joy-filled life.
Two interlocking techniques I use to help clients, hypnotherapy and CBT, work like pure magic. Hypnotherapy helps you access deeper levels of consciousness, while CBT gives you practical tools to reshape and change your sabotaging thoughts and addictive behaviors. Together, they can help you deal not just with the ‘what” of the shadow, but also the “why.”
If you add Past-Life Regression to the mix, that makes a powerful formula that assures serious self-acceptance and growth. When I worked with Brian Weiss, MD, more than twenty years ago, I unlocked past-life narratives in my own life that helped me heal from childhood trauma. Past-life narratives can also shed light on present struggles, illuminating connections to feelings of buried guilt and shame. Opening up those hidden vaults buried deep in your subconscious mind can offer you profound and long-lasting healing.
Imagine what it would feel like to honor and embrace your past rather than feel traumatized. I once had an amazing client, a beautiful nurse in her 40s, who had a wild, drug-filled early adulthood. At that time, she was married to an abusive coke dealer, and she had an infant son. Her husband needed her to do a drug drop in Huntington Park, then a dangerous pit. She strapped her baby boy into the backseat and set out on a dangerous mission. It wasn’t until she got there that she realized she would be killed. Surrounded by masked men with guns, she floored it and ran down one of them. She escaped, but with a spray of bullets flying behind her. That night changed her life. She left her psychopathic husband and fled with her son to safety. Unfortunately, she demeaned and buried her wild-girl self. When we worked together, she was able to forgive that part of her and integrate her joyous courage.
By accessing these kinds of experiences and reassessing them, many of my clients report feeling liberated. As a result, they open up to an unexpected wellspring of creativity and a passion to move forward in life.
Whether it’s understanding why certain situations trigger intense reactions or unlocking a hidden passion, this comprehensive approach to healing can offer you a pathway to transformative insights. If you want to learn how to embrace the parts of yourself that were once hidden, you can think of these therapies as a journey to self-discovery.
It’s about peeling back layers and facing hidden parts of you with courage. All of that can lead to a fuller experience in this lifetime, and a truer expression of who you want to become.
Please give me a call if you’re ready to let go of that old shame-filled baggage. (323) 933-4377
