Are You Burned Out?
Are you burned out? Don’t know how to fix it?
Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavior Modification, Awareness Therapy, and Past-Life Regression can change your sabotaging habits of thinking, believing, and behavior.
How?
Take extreme care of yourself first.
Yes, it’s easy to say, but sometimes that feels impossible, doesn’t it?
So, why not take baby steps?
If you, like many of my clients, have a high-pressure job with an anxious boss who texts and emails you at all times of the night and day, be brave and turn off your phone. Or add a line to your email that says: “I don’t respond to emails after 6:00 PM,”
Yes! You need to find the courage to set boundaries.
According to “The Anxious Generation,” by Jonathon Haidt, our brains are now hooked on the feedback loop that floods our ancient brain with hormones – fight, flight, freeze – or if someone liked a picture you posted, ah… Dopamine. (It’s why cocaine addicts get addicted.) There’s a book about that, too – Dopamine Nation by Anna Lembke.
If you feel you’ll be fired for standing up for yourself and taking care of yourself, you might ask yourself, “Who am I trying to please?” “Why can’t I ask for what I need?” Meditate on that, and find out what part of you refuses to love yourself enough to make your own mental and physical health worth fighting for. Just take 10 minutes and go within. Meditate. Listen. You’ll find an answer that might surprise you.
Healers, doctors, social workers, and therapists are the worst at taking care of themselves first. Their self-esteem and self-worth rest on being helpful to others. Because of that, they burn out, and their ashes slide down into the pit of compassion fatigue.
To combat that mental exhaustion, I suggest they do what I do every year.
I pull out a calendar and take a week off every three months to rest, restore, and recover.
If you can visualize your year as if it’s a sheet hung on a clothesline, then pin it up evenly. Look at it, and plan to take time off. Then, stick to your plan.
If you can’t take a week off, look at the holidays and plan to take vacation or sick days (mental health days) on either side of a three-day weekend. Voila! Five days!
Because my work is energy intense, I have to restore my own system, otherwise I couldn’t help my clients.
For instance, in March, I spent a week in Berkeley. In May, I spent a week in Arcata, where I saw my niece Athena graduate from college. I was supposed to visit my niece Valeri in London in July, but that changed, and she came here instead. In September, I’ll be back in Mammoth. And then, in December, I’ll be in Cayucos, doing nothing but watching the waves and sunsets. That way, I’ll be rested and ready to see my wonderful clients in January 2025.
So, if you feel burned out, do what both those books suggest. Your phone is the most addictive thing a human brain has ever encountered. It’s dangerous, so take it one day at a time. Could you turn off all notifications? Could you only check your email twice a day?
Could you delete Instagram and TikTok? Just for a day? Everyone gets hooked by those crazy kitties and the fabulous elephants on Instagram! You are not alone. It’s an addiction, but you can control it, but only if you make the decision to change from being burned out to being healthy and happy!
If you cannot change on your own, I can help you. Please call me. (323) 933-4377
Sending you love,
Stephanie
