Is Your Shadow Side Sabotaging You?
Wonder why you procrastinate? Why can’t you get yourself to do the things you want to do?
Blame your shadow side!
Why? The answer might surprise you. It’s powerful precisely because you deny it. You push it down, ignore it, pretend it’s not there. But your shadow side isn’t going away—because it’s actually your subconscious mind, full of needs and wants that won’t be silenced.
The Iceberg Truth
I often explain to clients that about 10% of who you are exists above the waterline of consciousness, while 90% exists below it. But here’s the real kicker: in reality, it’s more like one one-thousandth above the waterline. The rest? Your subconscious is busy running the magnificent machinery of your body—your heartbeat, your breathing, your immune system, all without you having to think about it.
This isn’t just a metaphor—it’s neuroscience. Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, the neuroanatomist who wrote
“My Stroke of Insight” beautifully illuminated how our conscious mind is just the tip of the iceberg of our brain’s activity.
Our species, Homo sapiens, is only 250,000 years old. We’re a violent species, yes—but we also have a deeply altruistic side hardwired into us. If we didn’t, we’d have wiped ourselves out long ago. That cooperative instinct is the only reason we’re still here.
Over the millennia, different groups have created different stories about reality. A little more than 5,000 years ago, certain cultures developed the concept of a male sky god who fundamentally distrusted human nature—especially sexuality. But sexual impulses come directly from your DNA. Your DNA wants to survive. You are, in essence, a vehicle for that survival drive.
Here’s where things get messy: these ancient belief systems taught people to be ashamed of their own bodies and to view their natural impulses as evil or lesser. Women especially bore the brunt of this messaging. These baked-in beliefs cause many humans actually to hate themselves—to war with their own nature.
Is it any wonder there’s so much chaos in the world right now?
There’s a Way Out
So, how do you unravel all this programming? How do you learn to love every cell in your magnificent body?
First, you need information and a broader perspective on your life. You need to identify exactly how you were hypnotized into believing your body was something to be ashamed of.
This is where I come in.
In my over 25 years as a hypnotherapist, I’ve been privileged to train with the pioneers in this field—Dr. Brian Weiss, the renowned psychiatrist and past-life regression expert, and Dr. Michael Newton, whose groundbreaking work in life-between-lives therapy transformed the field. Through cognitive behavioral modification and awareness therapy, I help you:
- Recognize the thoughts and behaviors actually sabotaging you
- Understand how these patterns trigger your nervous system
- Transform your relationship with yourself through past life regression
Past-life regression opens your world. It gives you a broader outlook on your life—and that expanded perspective brings genuine happiness. You start to see yourself as part of a fascinating species that’s survived for 250,000 years. (By the way, that’s not very long. The dinosaurs ruled the planet for about 10 million years. We’re just getting started.)
Don’t you deserve to have a fun time on planet Earth while you’re here? Why spend your precious time at war with yourself?
Let me help you make peace with who you are—all of who you are, shadow side included.
