I once had a handsome, gay client named Peter. He was a brilliant 52-year-old attorney about to lose his job, not for lack of talent, but because he could not meet deadlines.
No matter how hard he tried, something always stopped him at the finish line. He was driving everyone at the firm crazy because the trial lawyers needed his research and briefs to go to trial.
In hypnotic trance, in his first regression, we found the source: his three-year-old self, shamed and terrified by overwhelmed, young Irish parents. That baby-boy self made a silent, furious decision: No one tells me what to do!
That single moment ran his professional life for years. It was as if he had a wonky, outdated operating system on his inner computer, and it caused Peter so much pain and anger. He was desperate to change.
When we went deeper, Peter saw himself as a tall, black, handsome sex-slave in the ancient Middle East. At the end of that regression, I asked, “What is the soul lesson from that lifetime?”
He said, “That no one can enslave you unless you allow it.” In that brutal lifetime, he’d stayed strong and proud, even though he lived that shame-filled life.
When Peter’s conscious mind finally understood what his soul already knew, all of his resistance dissolved.
Within weeks, he met every deadline. His boss noticed. His colleagues noticed. Peter, for the first time in his adult life, felt genuinely free.
