All your blood shoots down your legs so can run away from the lion, tiger or bear that used to chase your ancient ancestors. Obviously, your ancestors were highly successful at getting themselves to safety. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be here, right?

First, breathe in deeply, count backwards from fifteen to one, while you ask your toes: “Is everything okay this 15 seconds?” Your toes will answer, “We’re fine this 15 seconds, and you don’t need to panic now.” And because you have consciously, cognitively realized that you are okay, you can begin to calm yourself down.
