What does that mean? First, when you go out into the world during the day, if you can pretend to be an Undercover Angel, and do a secret good deed that no one knows about, it builds a sense of self-worth and self-esteem.
And if you can take that feeling of doing good deeds for others, and then do good deeds for yourself that can change your brain!
Like what? Simple things: Like flossing your teeth, or doing yoga, or putting down your phone when you eat. (I have so many clients with eating disorders, and this one practice – awareness while eating — cures them!)
There’s no one on the planet exactly like you. You are the only one you will never leave or never lose. So, it’s up to you to treat yourself well. Don’t expect your boyfriend to do it, because he’s too worried about himself. Don’t expect your mother, father, sister or brother to do it either. They’ve got problems of their own. When you take on the task of treating yourself well, it allows you to love others without expecting anything in return.
Find actions that show a feeling of unconditional love for yourself. Then you’ll be able to show the deepest love for the others in your world.
As the Buddha said: “You, yourself, as much as anybody else in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
If you need help in uncovering why you might feel guilty about being kind to yourself, call me. Hypnosis, hypnotherapy and past-life regression can help.
